New stickers!
Hands down my favorite calendar-I have been buying it for years. Even in this digital age this is the hub of our family and where we all look to see where we need to be! All the stickers have been updated and some new ones were added. Reduced amounts of 'family vacation', 'vet', 'no school', and '1/2 day of school'. Newly added are 'girl's night', 'date night', 'concert', 'rehearsal', and 'volunteer'. (sorry, guys, no boy's night for you.) I included pics marked 'old' and 'new' to compare. The calendar itself appears unchanged.
Writing bleeds through to the next month.
The biggest flaw with this calendar is that the top half of the month is the back of the page of the last month. The paper is so thin that when you flip it to the next month everything you wrote last month has bled through the page rendering the new page useless. I even tried writing with the lightest pen and you could still see it. Also for August, the top half of the calendar is a different color and texture from the bottom half. That was pretty tacky. Another problem is that the writing is so light that you can't see it well unless you are close. My family likes to put ours on a central wall. We need to be able to clearly see the days from across the room. Dark ink for the numbers would be much better. The idea behind this calendar is good, but the actual product was poorly executed. There are much better calendars out there. This one was a big disappointment and waste of my money.
Every mom’s dream!
I have bought this calendar for many years. I am a mom of four kids and there's a lot that I like about this guy. 1. It's big, but not too big. It's not like you've hung a desktop calendar on the wall, but it is larger than a 14X14 standard calendar. Each square has multiple lines to provide a lot of space for writing all kinds of events. It fits on the side of my fridge, and I use strong magnetic clips (two) to hold it up. It CAN be heavy, but I tear out the sticker pages and I distribute the weight evenly vs. hanging it on the first month with all other months hanging below it. 2. It's not limiting. Other calendars that are intended for families come color coded, and I find the color-coding limiting. I have some kids that have more activities than others, and the frequency of each person's events ebbs and flows with the months. With no color-coding I can opt to color code myself, or just use the lines as I see fit. It also does not have cheesy monthly themed graphics-- it's very straightforward! It's simple. It doesn't change my decor or add anything to it or draw attention to itself. 3. The stickers. This year they updated the font and the icons and they're really cute! I always do a nice job using the stickers when I get the calendar, but it fades for me as the months go on, but my intentions are sound! The only thing I would change is the line spacing-- for my handwriting, it's a little too spaced and I end up squishing two lines of my writing within the spacing provided.
NO BLEEDING with either Stabilo or Pilot G-2 Gel colored pens.
(Perhaps others have a different edition than mine.) I just received the 2018-2019 calendar by mistake. I need the next one, but love this and decided to use it until the next one is in stock. I've just tried two different sets of colored pens and neither of them bleeds through. Bleeding would be a big issue for me, and I would definitely not consider ordering another if it bled. The Stabilo are felt tipped coloring pens Art. 68/48. I think these are little too broad tipped for normal calendar writing and even so, they don't bleed through. The others I tried are the perfect size Pilot G-2 Gel pens. I tested both the 07 and 05 sizes. No bleeding. You have to hold the paper up to a window to see anything from the other side. I tested darker colors: red, black, green, and blue from both sets. (I bought the G-2 Gel pens on Amazon and the Stabilo are also sold on Amazon.)
PERFECTION-- Take it from me, a mom of four!

Best family calendar out there
I’ve been ordering this calendar for years now and it’s still my favorite. Last school year I tried out a different one that was a smaller size but I came back to my trusty Amy’s Big Calendar. Seriously the best calendar for keeping your family’s schedule all in one place. I use a ton of stickers on mine and the date squares are plenty big. It does take up a decent amount of wall space so make sure you have room for it but get this calendar, seriously it’s the best.
Recommend this family calendar!
This is a nice, large calendar. The open dimensions are approximately 14" X 22" which is larger than some of the other family planning calendars I've had in the past. I thought I would miss having a separate line for each family member but I don't think that's going to be a problem with all of the space on each day. The stickers that are included seem to be more useful than some of the others I've had as well. For instance, there's many more dentist stickers (we're a family of 5 and need them) as well as many school and sports event related stickers. There's also several "to do lists" that you can easily remove and fill out and a place to write down the dinner for each night. There isn't a pouch in the back for papers, however this year I had so many school papers in my other calendar's pouch that it was literally falling away from the wall. So, the pouch doesn't seem to work well anyway. Overall, I would recommend this calendar and will plan to buy it again in the future.
Save yourself the headache. Huge quality issues.
Our wall calendar is the 'control center' of our family with very activity color coded and listed so you can imagine how much effort is put into finding the right one. I really wanted to like this one because it has several features I was looking for but it has some very fatal flaws. I will be trying to return this. I'm giving it two stars instead of none because it starts in August (yay!), the large grids are nice, and I love that they are lined because I t makes it easier to visualize parts of the day. I also like the space for dinner menu at the bottom of each day. The lack of visual clutter was a must have for me but there is just the right amount of extra room for projects, chores, etc. to be written as a bonus. Also, it has rip out lists that would have been great as well as some stickers for special days. Unfortunately, it has quality issues that will prevent me from using it. I have used to same color pens on every calendar but the paper on this one allowed them to bleed through. It makes for a very muddled month. I could have used different pens but the paper being thin also meant the spiral holes ripped very easily. It didn't even make it unscathed though the set-up phase. The part that made me just say no was the spiral binding. Think cheap notebook - it kept coming undone and bending. By the time I had filled in the first two months, it wouldn't even close correctly. That is VERY frustrating when you've just spent time filling in various dates for an hour. If they can address the quality issue, it definitely has potential. Until then, just save yourself the headache.
Best family calendar out there!
I have been using this calendar for about 10 or 12 years (After trying many, many different calendars over the years). It’s getting more and more difficult to find, since many stores don’t carry paper calendars anymore.... So I was happy to find it on Amazon! Out of all the calendars I’ve tried over the years, this calendar works the best for me. I really like a large blocks (for each day) with extra space for writing… Without being confined to a specific line or space per child, like other family planning calendars. My other favorite things are the little tear-out to-do lists in the back -- I use these for a weekly grocery shopping. They are small, so they are a perfect size to fit anywhere. The stickers are cute for a little ones, though I don’t use them as much anymore since my son is now 14. Last, I really like that the calendar is just plain white. No drawings/illustrations or confusing colors… Plain and simple. Clean, lots of space, features that are great and it's large. Everything I need!
I buy this every year...
I buy the Amy Knapp Big Grid calendar every year. For my use, it is perfect. Nice and large. It doesn't include sections for each family member like many "family" calendars to and that is a huge plus for me because I don't use my calendar that way. My only grip ever year is that I wish the paper were a bit thicker. I'd happy pay more for better quality paper (and pre-punched holes in both corners... this calendar is so big I have to use hooks on both sides).
